Transferring to a Bachelor's Degree at BNTU
Updated June 2026
This guide is for international students who have completed a Russian Language Course or Preparatory Department programme and are now transferring to a Bachelor's degree programme at BNTU (Belarusian National Technical University). It covers every fee, deadline, and step in the transfer process — including the exit visa, document retrieval, and what to expect during the 3–4 week enrollment processing period.

Who This Guide Is For
- Students finishing a Russian Language Course at BSUIR, BNTU, or another university
- Students finishing a Preparatory Department programme at any university
- Students who have selected a Bachelor's programme at BNTU (Economy & Management, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering)
Your Exit Visa
Because you are moving to a different university, your exit visa is issued for 2 weeks from the last day of your current programme. During this period you are in 'transition' status and cannot extend your stay at the current university. The clock starts on your last official day, so all payments and visits to BNTU must happen within this window.
Getting Your Documents Back
Before you can leave your current university, you must retrieve all original documents they are holding. Your university will give you an 'exit list' — a checklist of departments you must visit for signatures before they will release your documents. Request this list approximately 2 weeks before your programme ends; if they do not issue it automatically, ask for it yourself.
Documents to retrieve:
- Notarised passport translation (original)
- Study certificate from current university (confirming you completed the programme)
- Medical examination results (original)
- Medical insurance documents (originals — you will need these for the insurance extension at BNTU)
- School leaving certificate / O-level / A-level (originals)
- Any other documents you submitted on arrival that were held by the university
If any document translations are unavailable, a new translation and notarisation costs approximately $25 per document through the inBelarus partner network.
BNTU will reject your enrollment if you only present copies. You must hold originals of all documents.
Double-check every document before leaving the current university — it is much harder to retrieve them after you have moved.
Step-by-Step Process
Request your exit list from current university
About 2 weeks before your programme ends, ask the university administration for your exit list. This is a form that lists every department (library, hostel, finance, dean's office, etc.) that you must visit and obtain a signature from before your documents will be released. Do not leave this until your final week.
Collect all signatures and settle outstanding balances
Visit each department on your exit list and obtain their signature. You will also need to settle any outstanding hostel or tuition balances at your current university — departments will not sign until all debts are cleared. This process typically takes 3–5 days.
Retrieve all your documents
Once all signatures are collected, the university will return your original documents. Check that everything is present before you leave: passport translations, medical results, insurance originals, school certificates, and study certificate. Report any missing items immediately.
Give documents to your agent for review
Pass all retrieved documents to your inBelarus agent. They will check completeness, identify any missing translations or notarisations, and confirm what forms you need to complete for the BNTU application. You will be asked to fill in 1–2 application forms.
Obtain your exit visa from current university
About 1 week before your current visa expires, your agent will help you obtain the 2-week exit visa from your current university. Have the exit visa fee (~$100) and the hostel upfront payment (~$40–50 for 2 weeks) ready before this appointment. The hostel requires upfront payment for the full exit visa duration because you can leave on any day and cannot pay day-by-day.
Visit BNTU with your agent before your current visa expires
About 1 week before your current visa expires, your agent will take you to BNTU for an introductory visit. You will get a temporary university pass to access the campus, and your agent will submit your application documents. Bring all your originals.
Submit documents and pay all required fees
Follow the fee schedule below carefully. The first semester tuition instalment, interview fee, administrative fee, and platform fee are all due on or before your last day. Hostel prepayment is due within 5 days after. Visa extension and insurance extension are due within 2 weeks. Missing any of these payments — especially visa and insurance — can result in deportation.
Await enrollment processing at BNTU
BNTU typically takes 3–4 weeks to process a transfer enrollment. During this period you will be on exit visa status. If processing extends beyond your 2-week exit visa, you will need to obtain a 1-month exit visa extension (~$100). Your agent will monitor the timeline and advise you when to apply for this extension.
Receive your new Temporary Residence Permit (TRP)
Once BNTU completes processing, you will receive your new student TRP linked to BNTU. From this point onwards you are formally enrolled and can extend your visa annually as a BNTU student.

All deadlines in the table are calculated for this date.
| Item | Amount (USD) | Recommended by |
|---|---|---|
Exit visa fee Paid at your current university when obtaining the 2-week transition visa. Have funds ready at least 9 days before your programme ends. | ~$100 | 21/06/2026 9 days before course end |
Hostel upfront payment — exit visa period (2 weeks) Because you are on an exit visa, the hostel requires prepayment for the entire 2-week period. You cannot pay day-by-day during this status. | ~$40–50 | 21/06/2026 9 days before course end |
First semester tuition — 50% instalment Includes approximately 2% bank transfer charges. Covers 50% of the annual tuition. Second instalment due by 15th December. | $2,450 (Economy & Management / Software Eng) or $3,100 (Biomedical Eng) | 30/06/2026 Last day of course |
University interview and document review fees Paid to BNTU on arrival. Approximately $50–60 for the interview and $50–60 for document review. | ~$100 | 30/06/2026 Last day of course |
Administrative fee (BNTU) One-time enrollment fee charged by BNTU. Not repeated in subsequent years. | ~$80 | 30/06/2026 Last day of course |
Platform fee (inBelarus Go — application processing) Paid online via the inBelarus Go platform for technical processing of your application. | $200 | 30/06/2026 Last day of course |
Document translation and notarisation Only if any document translations are missing or expired. Confirm with your agent when you retrieve your documents. | ~$25 per document | 01/07/2026 1 day after course end |
Hostel prepayment at BNTU Top-up balance for your new BNTU hostel account. Used as a running balance for monthly hostel fees. | $500 | 05/07/2026 5 days after course end |
Annual visa extension Extend your student visa for 1 year. Repeats annually. | $65 | 12/07/2026 12 days after course end |
Medical insurance extension — 12 months We recommend a 12-month extension (to approximately September 2027) rather than a shorter one. A 4-month extension costs only ~50% less but gives much shorter coverage and a shorter visa. Extending to 12 months gets you the maximum possible visa extension (up to 12 months). | ~$240 | 15/07/2026 15 days after course end |
Exit visa extension (1 month) — if processing takes longer Only needed if BNTU processing extends beyond your 2-week exit visa. BNTU typically takes 3–4 weeks, so budget for this. A 3rd exit visa extension is rare. | ~$100 | 15/07/2026 15 days after course end |
All amounts are approximate. Paid in Belarusian rubles at the National Bank exchange rate — add a 5–10% buffer.
Agency assistance fees are not included — contact your agent on inBelarus Go for the current rate.
All information is subject to change. Confirm current fees with your agent before making any payment.
Processing Timeline & Exit Visas
Expected processing time
3–4 weeks at BNTU. Once documents are submitted and all fees are paid, BNTU typically processes the enrollment within 3–4 weeks. Delays in any payment extend this timeline. Your agent will track progress and let you know when your TRP is ready.
How many exit visas to expect
2 exit visas in most cases. The first is from your current university (2 weeks) when you leave. The second is a 1-month extension obtained at BNTU when processing takes longer than your initial exit visa. A third is rare but possible.
Important Notes
CRITICAL — PAYMENT DEADLINES: Missing any payment listed in this guide — especially the visa extension and insurance — can result in deportation. Keep funds available and pay on time. Your agent will remind you, but the responsibility is yours.
ANNUAL MEDICAL CHECKUP: If you have been in Belarus for more than 11 months since your arrival date (counting from when you first arrived), BNTU will likely require you to complete the annual medical examination (~$100) as part of your enrollment. This is a standard requirement.
DOCUMENT ORIGINALS REQUIRED: BNTU will not process your enrollment if you only have copies. Ensure you collect every original from your current university before leaving. Replacing a lost original can take months.
DOCUMENT LEGALISATION: Most students who completed a Russian Language Course or Preparatory Programme had their documents checked on original arrival. If your school certificate was not legalised (apostille or full legalisation) at that time, BNTU may require it. Confirm with your agent. Countries with bilateral recognition agreements with Belarus are exempt.
INSURANCE STRATEGY: You likely currently have insurance that expires around September 2026. Rather than renewing for 4 months (September–December 2026) and again later, we recommend renewing for 12 months (to approximately September 2027). The 4-month policy costs only about 50% less than the 12-month one, and the longer policy also gives you the longest possible visa extension.
ALL PRICES ARE APPROXIMATE: Fees are paid in Belarusian rubles at the National Bank exchange rate. The rates on Google or international converters are typically more favourable than the actual rate you will receive. Add a 5–10% buffer to all estimates. All information is subject to change — confirm current rates with your agent.
