Study Costs in Belarus
A transparent overview of all fees and expenses for international students — 2026/2027 academic year. Tuition, accommodation, visa costs, and everything in between.
All figures are provided for informational purposes only and do not constitute a public offer or binding contract. Actual costs may vary based on the academic year, university policies, and currency exchange rates.
Important: The Exchange Rate You See Online Is Not the Rate You Will Pay
All fees in Belarus that are officially quoted in USD are converted and paid at the National Bank of Belarus exchange rate — not the mid-market rate shown on Google, XE.com, or your bank's mobile app. The national rate is typically less favourable than what online converters display, which means the real cost in your local currency will be higher than a simple online conversion suggests. Always use the National Bank of Belarus rate when budgeting, and add a small buffer to be safe.
Tuition Fees
Tuition varies by programme and university. The figures below are the official annual rates in USD, quoted by each university — paid in Belarusian Rubles (BYN) at the National Bank exchange rate, which may add + up to 2% bank charges (see note below).
| Level | Typical Range | Payment Split |
|---|---|---|
| Preparatory / Russian language course | $1,900 – $2,400 / year | 50% on arrival + 50% by end of December |
| Bachelor's Degree | $4,800 – $6,100 / year | 50% on arrival + 50% by end of December |
| Master's Degree | $4,400 – $4,900 / year | 50% on arrival + 50% by end of December |
All fees are quoted in USD for reference only. Payment is made exclusively in Belarusian Rubles (BYN), converted at the official exchange rate of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus.
Please note that this rate may differ from rates shown on Google, currency apps, or local private exchange offices by 1–2%. To ensure your tuition is paid in full and no outstanding balance remains, we recommend having an additional +2% on top of the quoted amount when exchanging your money.

One-Time Fees (First Year Only)
The following fees are charged once and do not recur in subsequent academic years. Most are paid on arrival in cash — the only exception is the application fee, which is paid online before you travel.
| Fee | Amount | When paid |
|---|---|---|
| Application fee (document review + invitation letter) | $350 | Online, before arrival |
| Assistance service fee — see note below | Set by your agent | On arrival, cash |
| University administration fee | ~$105 | On arrival, cash |
| Notarisation & certified translation (passport + academic certificate) | $60 for 2 docs (+$25 each additional) | On arrival, cash |
About the Assistance Fee
International students cannot enrol at a Belarusian university independently — you are required to be represented by a licensed agency that takes legal responsibility for you throughout your stay. The assistance fee covers the full range of services your agent provides: document handling, enrolment support, visa coordination, and ongoing guidance. This fee is set by each agency individually and is not a fixed amount. To find registered agents and get current pricing, visit the inBelarus Go platform where you can review available agents and contact them directly.
Interview and Document Consideration Fees
Some universities require a separate fee for the academic interview and formal consideration of your documents (typically ~$100). Others include this in the standard admission process at no extra charge. Which applies to you depends on your chosen university and programme. The complete breakdown for your specific application is available on the inBelarus Go platform.

Get My Full Cost BreakdownCarry Your Funds in Hand Luggage — Not Checked Bags
Belarusian border authorities require you to demonstrate sufficient funds on entry. Students who cannot present the required amount — even if the difference is very small — risk denial of entry, financial penalties, and repatriation at their own expense. There have been documented cases of students being deported because their money was in checked luggage that was delayed by the airline. Always carry all required cash in your carry-on or personal bag.
